Sartartia Middle School PTO

The Sartartia Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is open to all parents, volunteers, and family members of currently enrolled students of SMS. We would love for you to join us for our fun, fellowship and volunteer/committee meetings. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 1:00 in Room 314. Please check in at the front desk, as always.

There are several committee positions open for the 2020-2021 school year:

Corporate Sponsorships Committee
This Committee is in charge of obtaining sponsorships from our community businesses. Committee chair will be working on sponsorships over the summer, typically. Chair will also help Jag Dash committee to obtain sponsorships for the event.

Cash Drive – Paws for Cause
Paws is our annual fall fundraiser, where we ask all of our parents to donate money to the PTO.  Committee Chair will set up table and be present at Jag Camp (both days) to hand out forms and collect donations from parents.

Spirit Nights Committee
This committee is in charge of setting up Spirit Night dates with Food Sponsorship Restaurants, as well as other establishments. They will be sending out reminders to the Webmaster to be posted on the Facebook and school newsletter.

Shared Dreams Committee
Shared Dreams is a Fort Bend ISD program, which helps the underprivileged families in FBISD.  Each school is assigned 2 days per year to go to the Shared Dreams office to help organize donated items. This committee will attend the meetings and find volunteers for the 2 assigned days. Will also coordinate and promote special donation drives as needed.

Hospitality Committee
This committee is in charge of planning and setting up breakfast, lunch and STAAR snacks for our teachers & staff.

6th Grade Committee
This committee will plan and execute the 6th Grade in-house field trip.

7th Grade Committee
This committee will plan and execute the 7th Grade in-house field trip.

8th Grade Celebration Committee
This committee will plan and execute the 8th Grade end of the year celebration.

8th Grade Career Day Committee
Middle School Career Day provides a learning experience for eighth-grade students to support integration of academic and technical knowledge and skills within the middle school classroom. The programs also increase students’ awareness of extended learning opportunities, such as service learning, internships and work-based learning. Committee works with Administration to plan the event – presenters, exhibitors, food, etc.

Jag Dash Committee
Jag Dash is an annual spring run and family fun night carnival.  The night consists of color run, games, rides, prizes, music, food, silent auction, and other activities.  Chair is in charge of overall the entire event, including getting city permits, hiring officer, coordinating with the school admins, ordering food and planning the entire event.

Silent Auction
This committee is in charge of requesting donations from businesses for our Silent Auction during our spring carnival. The committee starts request process in September. (We have a timeline with duties listed)

Multicultural Committee
A Multicultural Event is one where families are invited to the school to share elements of their culture or ethnicity with other members of the school community through storytelling, dance, arts many other things that make cultures unique.
This committee will be working with School Counselors to plan and execute the event.

Merchandise
This committee markets, orders and distributes Spirit Merchandise for the PTO. Committee Chair will set up table and be present at Jag Camp (both days) to market and sell the merchandise. Merchandise needs to be ordered and procured by July end, typically.

Treasurer
The treasurer helps develop the budget, writes checks for purchases and reimbursements, tracks income and spending, makes financial reports, completes and files all necessary tax documents, and organizes the books for annual audit.

 

Ways To Donate

There are some easy ways to donate to the SMS PTO. Save your Box Tops! We collect them. Please cut them out and bring them to the front office with your student’s name and grade level. The grade level with the most Box Tops will win a special reward! The contest ends on October 28 and we will have another one in February. Consider participating in the Randall’s Good Neighbor Program (SMS is #12137) and Target RED card program, who give back a portion of your purchases to the school. The Amazon Smiles program is another easy way to help. Log into http://smile.amazon.com/ and select Sartartia Middle School PTO. The Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible Amazon Smile purchases back to the PTO. Thank you to everyone who donated to our PAWS for the Cause fundraiser. As of September 30, we have collected approximately $12,900 in donations and corporate matching to acquire items that will benefit all of our students. This is about half of our annual PAWS fundraising goal.
